Almost in all aspects I loved Residence life. I actually got lucky because I was familiar with two out of the three girls I stayed with. One I've been going to school with for about two years. The other is actually my service learning partner. The last girl was actually very interesting, I wasn't very familiar with her but I got to know her very quickly. I got to know a lot of the girls I didn't know that well before, and the ones I was already close with I was able to get even closer to them. I definitely made a lot of long-term friends.
It was really hard joggling my outside commitments, residence life and class. I think throughout the whole week I pulled two all-nighters and definitely stayed up later than I should have. While I was on campus I had my public speaking midterm so Shalynn and I pretty much ended up pulling an all nighter two days before. I have too many memories to recall, from playing spades, to watching the great debaters, to getting my hair braided in the lounge and even having outside guest come and hang out. I was really sad when I had to leave for my outside commitments because I feel like I missed out on too much! The dance parties were bomb and the last night was memorable. We definitely worked hard and played hard. Juice Stop was phenomenal and Wal Mart was fantastic.
I loved the resident advisors! It was really fun, they were cool, and I feel like they were able to bond with us. Even though they were there to advise us, I think they had just as much fun as we did. We all just bonded and had a great time. At first I was hesitant and didn't think they would be like they were. But after the first high course we all kind of just had an understanding for each other and we just hung out. They definitely taught us something but at the same time they made the experience a lot less overwhelming.
